I would add enough Prime to cover the whole tank, not just replacement water, since you're not just using it to dechlor the water.

thats how we cycled our tank when we started itWe have all that in the tank and our tank crashed because we lost all the slime and other stuff when our pump went out. we were trying to stablize it before things got to bad. We have been working on it for 3 days or so and I think things just were to much for some of the food tank mates. i just finished cleaning all the rocks and other items in there we did a water change where we added new to the old and just kept pumping! took about hour give or take more give then take. we made sure to keep the water at a good temp and mixed well to reduce shock to them, My hubby is on his way for the Bispiral stuff.

Please don't let the LFS talk him into purchasing Cycle or any of the other miracle products sitting in bottles on the shelf or hanging on the pegboard. They are a waste of money and can do more harm than good. He should be looking for Bio-Spira (made by Marineland).

If you haven't poured it in already, do a 90% water change & pour it directly into the filter.

Good to hear things are turning around. Bio-spira is a life saver... if only it were available in Canada...

BTW, A low Ammonia reading is normal for the first little while after the use of bio-spira.
