I have not known any personally around here, but I know puffers can make it to 20 in hobby tanks, 30 almost certainly is possible, just not at all common. That bespeaks a level of care uncommon in home tanks.
People get old just like pets. It has to happen that folks may become unable to care for long-term pets and may have to re-home them.

Bertie 83, we had snow last weekend but it had melted by the evening, I'm really hoping the whole country doesn't grind to a halt again once the white stuff puts in an appearance

Maidenhead Aquatics by any chance?? They used to have a mbu in thier Newbury branch back in the late 1990's which was around 2 ft then...Beautiful fish..I always wanted a tank the size that one was in.
