Please do not purchase this fish, until you have the proper housing for it! Life happens... & many fish NEVER get upgraded! Get a GSP, they are just as cute & personable as the porc & can remain in that tank for it's entire life (although it would prefer a 55g).

Don't spend £700 on Live Rock you can buy it second hand for £5 per kilo. (Most LFS sell theirs for £15!)

You need 1kg of LR for every 2 gallons of water

Join the following forum and ask if anyone is selling LR

Hi how's it going, spent a lot of time in your area a few years back (had a girlfriend up there). The advise for the sooner upgrade is good, the tank can mature with the fish. If you get as much secondhand live rock as you can and bulk out with dry rock, by the time your puffer gets bigger the dry rock will be live. Welcome to the forum

Cute porky. And, nice setup! Now all you gotta do is set up a 120 gallon tank to look just like that. You'd beter get started on that now; you don't have much time. ;)

How long did you cycle the tank? Did you test the parameters, before adding the puffer?

The tank was set up for about three weeks the shop gave us some bacteria to put in then we had to take the water in every week to make sure ok
He is doing good i think i need to change the lights as he puffs up some times when the lights come on but he know nows that is feeding time as he gets back to normal then comes to the front ready for his food
What is best temperature for the porky thanks
Dose he need plants was told in the shop dose not need plants

You shouldn't rely on them to test your waters, get a salt water test kit(api salt water master kit). Also how did you feed the bacteria over the 3 weeks that you didn't have fish in there?

They gave me to glass tubes that i had to put in the water then put established live rock they said it would be ok in few days but left it a week they tested the water and said was good but we left it another week to be sure.
We also got a seneye water test system which says tempriture is 77 and ph is 8.11 nh3 is 0.001

What is best ph and tempriture thanks

The pH is fine at 8.1 as long as it stays constant. Temp is fine right where it is, too. The more you say this LFS tells you the less I like it - get an ammonia test kit asap and keep a close eye on the tank for ammonia.

A huge plus 1. It is not good to run any tank without the correct testing kit, it Is the most important fishkeeping tool available
