Long term they will do best with a steady salinity of 1.003-1.005.

Ok I'll definitely just start bringing it down in SG. Although one thing I noticed was with the higher the SG I was the brighter their colors were as well not sure if one correlated with the other but just an observation I made.

thank you! i've read this somewhere else, but there is so much conflicting information id was so confusing on which to believe glad to know ill see if i cant find another type of snail besides ramshorn to breed and cherry shrimp as well to have a variety food for the puffers. So the proper diet would be to properly feed shrimp and snails, any one have any personal experience with what exactly would be considered healthy and which vitamin soak or liquid is the best for puffers in BW ? thanks again every !

Okay, another question which test would be a complete test for brackish water and where would be the best place to order it online?

im looking at the API Freshwater but dont know whether to buy the Saltwater or Freshwater Master kit? decided to price match at petco/Petsmart to take an additional 7$ from shipping

I believe at that S.G. a FW API kit would be what you want. Also I think if you order it off of Amazon it's cheaper than both of those places.

The food doesn't necessarily be those."live" ones.. u can let them have a variety of ,clams, squids, and scallop etc.. Just make sure they are frozen to kill off any harmful bacterial/parasite first. Then thawed in tank water with some vitamin.

it is currently in the 10g tank that is at 1.002-1.003, because the puffers were originally there while i was getting the 29g cycled. I've been slowly removing the salinity from the 10g it was around 1.006 with the puffs and have been diluting it slowly to not shock etc any fish. GF was to anxious and i come home from work to find a betta and 5 angel fish in the 10g tank. She's quite stubborn and quite ignorant when it comes to anything and refuses to learn anything so i've slowly been working it down and changing the water ~15%(1.5gallons) a week.

Angelfish also need lots of space so prepare for another large tank

Just drip acclimate them back to freshwater, that way they can be back in fresh in a few hours instead of weeks. They really should not be in brackish. Get a bucket, some airline tubing, and drip them back into fresh ASAP.

I would also have a sit-down with your girlfriend. She is going to need to buy a huge tank for those 5 angelfish.

Haha this I do need to do asap. she's planning on sticking everything into the 300 gallon brackish tank I'm building for the puffers. I'm planning on putting the Angels in the 29g tank soon as I finish this tank. The angel fish are still rather small so hopefully another week or so won't stunt their development too severely. The two puffers are definitely going to love the new tank !!

A 29 gallon isn't going to cut it for 5 angels. You'll need at least a 55. Get them and the betta into freshwater ASAP and start looking for a 55 gallon on Craigslist. Take a bit of the time and money from your big project and put it into properly caring for the fish that you have right now.

A LOT of $$$ and time goes into caring for fish properly. You probably would have been better off getting the girlfriend a kitten instead. It's about the same amount of money, and furry critters tend to get the proper treatment that they deserve whereas fish are treated as disposable creatures that have minimal needs. She'd be too busy playing with it to cram those poor fish into that tank.
