you could, but now that there is a pic you might want to hold off until someone higher up chimes in. I wouldn't want you to do anything harmful to the tank in any way.

It also looks like you have a canister filter on there. Is that correct?

nope there's a power head on the far left and a HOB aquaclear 50 on the right, its so cloudy you can barely see it though.

hrmmm... if it was a canister, I could understand the micro bubbles (new media settling in). But HOB's aren't usually prone to that. The cascading action of the water usually off gasses those bubbles.

I don't suppose you have a magnifying glass handy just to confirm that it is indeed not microbubbles?

Are any of the ornaments new? Or varnish damaged on them? Or anything dripping off the lid with the condensation?

no sorry I don't have a magnifying glass, i can actually see the white cloudiness flowing at the top of the tank where the light exposes it the most, it doesn't seem like bubbles as I'd assuming they'd float and the whiteness just flow wherever the filter pushes it.

The ornaments that I have in right now are all 6 months + old, i would assume some of the condensation drips back into the tank but I clean the lid regularly with a water+ vinegar solution so I don't think that could be a problem.

yea... hrmmm... any way to test the pH. I am going to take a guess that it is rather low. Most likely under 6

i don't have a test kit for the pH but ill run to big als now and get them to check it. I'll post back soon

Getting a test kit that handles all that is a great idea.

I have an idea, too. Get a clear glass and fill it with your tap water and see if it's cloudy.

pH is 7.8 according to the local pet store, pretty much what it is supposed to be so that rules that out. I've had the same problem in two different cities that are 5 hours drive apart so I've also ruled out the tap water.

I would just leave the tank alone. Keep changing out filter floss when it gets clogged. It'll clear up in a few days.

That's the problem though, its been like this for four months now, so I'm doubting more and more that its going to fix itself.

I'd say it's time to change it all then. Get a different substrate, get different decor, maybe even use live plants.

Get a test kit to test your levels.

Four months is a very long time to wait and I'd be very frustrated, too.

Yea there is definately a "something" causing this, its why I went the ornaments an hood line of questioning.
