Awesome! I still call my fiance my boyfriend, I'm sure he'd prefer hubby

That sounds like an amazing honeymoon. Going to the Great Barrier Reef? I'd love to go there one day. I think once I'm done school I'm going to learn how to dive.

I wanna do the great barrier reef, ive gotta learn to dive first tho. the "hubby" is going to teach me :) he learned because he had an underwater wedding to attend in hawaii. How cool is that! Wierd... But cool. He goes diving with his boss. Ive never seen him do it but aparently he can lol, got all the equipment taking up space in the master bedroom closet, why it cant go in the man cave, I still dont know lol

Even if I just end up snorkeling or direct line scuba (or whatever its called where youre air is hooked to the boat) that would still be okay with me. Ive just always wanted to go. Id love to see my aqua babies' family in their natural habitat :)

I ended up not getting the tank I was talking about :( the guy sold it even though we had a meet up time scheduled and everything *grrr*

Anyway... That doesnt leave me without puffers!!! I decided on 2 dwarf puffers. I put them in a spare 10 gal I had. I know they arent as awesome and grand as my fahaka, but theyre still adoreable and fun to watch. I had like 10 years ago and I miss the tiny little buggers. Wish I could post a pic but I have to wait for their new led light ive ordered to come in, so theyre in the dark atm. I put lots of really tall plants in there, theyre about twice as tall as the tank when stretched out so it kinda looks like a kelp jungle :)

Do they like cherry shrimp? I know theyre puffers and puffers eat inverts but I think I remember hearing theyre ok with them, or am I crazy?

Puffers are VERY limited near me. Ive only seen porcs, dp, gsp, fahaka, and a figure 8 and valentini (only saw the last 2 one time).

Honestly, I dont have space for the bf even of I did get it lol it was such a good price I just couldnt pass it up and it seemed like the perfect chance to get some poofs back in my life lol. But dp have just as much personalith if u really watch them

I kick myself for getting rid of my fahaka (avatar pic). He was awesome. He even came to the top of the water for belly rubs :)

Puffers are pretty limited around me too other then GSP. Mainly FW puffers are extremely rare around here. The only fahaka (Stripes) that I even seen in real life is the one I have now and the same with my congo puffer (Misery). GSP and figure 8's is a common puffers around here though. And I have been in the hobby for about 23 yrs now.

Your Fahaka was a good looking guy... :D
Btw, those congo puffers are extremely cool too. If you ever see one in a lfs, better grab it up...lol

Ive got a store close by who regularly carries baby fahakas, less than an inch long. But I refuse to buy from them. Thry label their dp and fahakas as brackish and every saltwater fish they carry has AT LEAST one disease, most have a few ailments going on. Theit porc even had his teeth so long that he couldnt eat. Its sad. Thats the only place ive ever seen a fahaka for sale around here. I got mine on craigslist :)

My fahaka and congo was added to a brackish water tank before I bought them. Well my fahaka was a speical order for me at a lfs but when I went to pick him up, the manager had him in a BW tank. Got him in that same day. I tryed to explain to him that it was PURE FW puffer. The guy that I bought my congo puffer from bought him from the same store in a BW tank. He bought him anyways but the congo was rescued, I guess you could say. And he adjusted him back into FW tank. Well they both are doing just fine now.

This place has them labled as bw but im pretty sure they dont know what that means cause they have them in aquarium salt  But theyre doomed if someone actually puts them in bw and keeps them there. and whats worse, they offer NO gaurantee on their puffers. So people are LITERALLY throwing their money away if they do what the store tells them. Gahh! That place is frustrating

You know all this talk about lfs's adding FW puffers to their BW tanks  . Makes me want to go and prove to them that these puffers are strickly pure FW puffer and dont be adding them to BW tank. That is like adding FW angelfish to a reef tank. It's dumb and dont do it :badboy: . Btw, I need to talk to the owner of this fish shop and explain it to him. He let his manager take over the shop. But as a owner, he does have the say so. I might just make a post tellin everyone in here to do the same at their lfs's.

Lol, good idea. Ive told them time and time again and nothing ever changes. The puffers' "brackish" tanks are totally surrounded by fw tanks, thus they dont even practice what they think these fish need. Its completely ridiculous. I HATE that store it makes me so mad. The only reason I go there is because they carry one ingredient dog treats (just dehydrated meat chewies). If I could find them elsewhere I would never go there.

Sounds like my near by Pet Food Center. They get some of the rarest fish but the staff sucks. One girl tried to argue with me about a FW toadfish (which is BW fish) was the electic catfish she was pointing to. I told her they was totally way different species. I ended up convincing her by tellin her that I have owned both species before and had been in the hobby over 20 years. She finally shutup after I proved her wrong...LOL!. And they hire anybody without any experience  . Too bad because this is the same place that carried arrowhead puffers, brown puffers, DP's, GSP's, figure 8's, and who knows what else I might had missed. I almost bought an arrowhead from there once but when I went back the next day, it was gone. And it was actually in a FW tank. Dimwits did something right for once...LOL.

I used to work at 2 petstores. It would make me so mad because id hear my coworkers tell people "let the tank settle for a week, then add fish"... I would tell them time and time again but it was easier for them to tell the cursomers that and send them on their way then to explain the nitrogen cycle

Hey, I used to add some cheap livebearers to cycle my tanks and never lost one fish doing it. I would either give them away keep them afterwards. And that sounds like most fish shops, sell them to anyone and not explain anything to them. Btw, I did explain the whole SW, BW, and FW puffer thing on a local cichlid FB page yesterday.... :D

These employees would tell them that and then they would come back later and buy a ton of fish and theyd come back like 3 days later with a water sample and a bunch of dead fish and then get pissed off when we say we couldnt give their $ back cause their ammonia levels were too high then theyd be like well the person told me to wait a week then id be fine. I just wished I could work full time in the fish department so customers would get accurate info so their fish dont die and they dont waste their money.

I put my 2 dp in an uncycled 10 gal but ive been doing small water changes every other day. Since theres only 2 little guys, ive only been taking out about 4 cups of water at a time cause theres just no need for huge water changes since theyre so small. Theyre doing great so far.
