but how does it shorten their life spans? it isnt like their housed in a 10 gallon tank. IMP i believe they'er fine.

How long have you been keeping these fish to be sure of this???

for over a year now. i've done endless hours of research on fish keeping (puffers mostly) im not a scientist, but i do have common sense. im not saying everybody is going to agree with me, if you wanna go out and buy a 2,000 gallon fish tank then more power to you. but most people cant access outrageously priced things like that. and honestly this fish belong in the ocean..not in home aqariums but people do it. we cant say for sure what they live like in the ocean can we.....

Your right on that, fish do belong in the ocean, but are kept in aquariums for our entertainment. That leave us in charge of giving them the best care that we can. The minimum tank sizes listed in the PufferPedia are not just tank sizes thought up by someone. They have been researched by people that have been keeping puffers for decades; some of these people are scientist. We all get the puffer bug as I like to calls it, they can be addicting fish. We have to know what are limits are and remember that they are taken from the ocean so if we can't accommodate there needs from the start it is only fair to the fish to pass on it.

and anyway, aren't your gsps in like a 70g? that's too small for all 4 of them, let alone adding a ceylon.

first of all: i was just asking a question. i am not going to get one. so chill. second i have THREE gsp's in a 78GALLON tank. and fyi they'er doing great.

Get back to us then they are >10 years old in there. Because all of the folks who recommend a MINUIMUM of 30g ea (for adult GSPs) have done so longer than that.

i was just asking because you posted like 3 questions asking about 3 different puffers around the same time, geez.

That is great to hear PufferBabe that you aren't interested in getting all these different puffers and are going to concentrate on the ones that you do already have. You had me a bit confused also with you comments above. Glad that you realise your limit at this time .

I certainly will not argue that the "right" water conditions are not important, they most certainly are.

But the right water conditions are only one factor among many. Current, swimming room, turning radius, feeding, and other factors are equally important. IMHO, a 55 is woefully inadequate for a single Ceylon alone, much less for one of each.

Personally I would bet on stunted puffers. That is important also.

Fritzel keeps his daughter in a tiny basement (edited by PP) but at least he still fed her and gave her clothes just because your puffer can survive in cramped conditions doesn't mean it should have too
