So would you prefer i and others leave them in shops for them to either die or die at the hands of fish keepers who havjt a clue.

It's really sad, I know, but when you do leave them in the shops to die, the shop doesn't buy more of them. Maybe you should talk to the store manager about how big these fish get, what they really need, and the possibility of not reordering this species except on special request.

It is a really painful conclusion but you are actually telling the store that the mbu is a great seller & encouraging them to buy more. Since you can't buy all of them, all those will be under-housed & die horrible early deaths. You can stop this process buy not buying ANY.

I am very concerned, that even if built into your flat, the floor won't support it. And what about when you move?

When i asked the shop owner... This was one of the maidenhead aquatics in the uk.. they said they always buy as many as we can that are available as they always sell .. so if i wasnt to get one then someone else would. They are a massive company here not a small time little shop.

You're absolutely right. You have now bought another fish you cannot possibly house.

maidenhead in my area are really bad for this also, they always have them. it gets me mad. i heard them telling someone that their gsp will let them know when it needs salt as its belly will turn black, when this happens add a tbsp of tonic salt. I used to like them but am starting to dislike them

once again another prime of example , where legislation and education of these matters is urgently needed ......lets start a campaign !!!

If you buy a fish then the store makes money and they will keep ordering those fish plain and simple. As much as it sucks, leave them there, let someone else be part of the issue or let the fish die. Sad but it's reality. If you don't agree with it vote with your money and make your opinion known to the people who can do something about it.
