that tank looks amazing given me some great ideas , that vid was pretty cool,amazing to see how they defend themselves agenst that otter

They are both riverine and in the Rift Lake (Tanganyika). A tank with massive rockwork is not required - it will reduce the water volume too much in my opinion. They need swimming space and clean water volume, not rock refuges as do the rock-dwelling Cichlids.

It would be impractical to have much rockwork in a raml less than several thousand gallons with an mbu.

Gonna go with some scattered bog wood and a fine gravel substrate to make it look as natural as possible for the little guy.
Went to the local lfs shop today to top up on the bits of bog wood i have already got. Spent a bit to much i think :), but will be worth it.

I'm going to place the bog wood on one edge of the tank and around the back, hopefully this will create some places for the little guy to explore and hide.

I'm going to leave the front of the tank and the other side clutter free so theirs plenty of open space for him as well gonna place a few plants in between the bog wood.

unfortunately the said mbu died yesterday in the lfs i was due to pick him up Sunday :(
