The only thing you will be able to notice different with a skimmer, is that gross smelly junk will collect in it, it's nothing you can test for.

Also, I've noticed some GSP's are a duller yellow with a neon halo, while others are a brighter green/yellow all over. There could be many reasons for this, one being possible sub species differences, and another being lighting. What is the Kelvin ratng of your bulbs?

12000K, or 65 w Daylight bulbs. They are compact florescent. She's still really grey along her tail and sides though, so I am not sure if it's me, or if she's still stressed. I wanted to upload you all a video, but my phone memory card has corrupted all my files and won't read them when I transfer them to the computer ><

I also run the blue lights at night and during the day.....If that is bad, let me know, because I don't know too much about lighting right now. I am starting to look, but find lots of mixed opinions. She's a very green color, but, she's just grey along her edges. Not sure what is wrong, and I thought this meant that she was stressed or water quality was poor. Not sure if it's just her color, or if something is truly wrong.

I would turn them off in the day to save power/ wear. She is most def just a bit stressed, relax and spend time familiarising yourself to her and within a few days it will all calm down.
