2 skimmers are fine but I'd rather just have one. I have been able to fit one off the side of the tank, too. You can wait a little while before you get it, as it will take some time for bioload to build up in there. Don't wait too long though!

So for a 50gallon tank would I need the dual bak pak (http://www.amazon.com/CPR-Aquatics-Bak- ... B0057J845C) or could I use a a Single back pak (http://www.amazon.com/CPR-Bak-Pak-2-Pro ... B001EUL4XM)?

Also,would you recommend 2 of these http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B004F461UA or could I go with 2 smaller ones for a 55 gallon tank ?

The more efficient skimmer is always better. It depends on how you plan to stock the tank. I'd go with the duo.

You need cross-flow, so go with 2 Korilias.
