I'm pretty sure the ones with the blue tail are male lorteti.

Yes, I purchased him yesterday. I went to another LFS and showed them a picture on my phone and they thought it might be an Irrubesco. I hope I didn't pay $60 for a Irrubesco lol. So you all think its a C. borneensis? what gender?

Shows all C. borneensis. On the lower right side you can clearly see a bluish tail. The scientific descriptions of the caudal fins of males of both species sound very similar. C. borneensis is supposed to have more grey and C. lorteti more black, but I don't see the difference personally.

I think this group of fish are the hardest to distinguish. That one looks just like what I though was a male lorteti! Maybe we're both wrong, Troender?

I agree with Troender's ID of her male C. lorteti.

But it looks just like mine!

The ornament on top of the head looks different.

The C. lorteti seem to have an additional light bar dividing the dark spot. Something the supposed C. borneensis lack. This feature is also shown in the species descriptions by Hui.

What differs a borneensis from a lorteti?

I believe Corvus just described the differences.

I think they differ by these most easy obverable characters:

A) ornament on top of the head
B) body color: C. lorteti more grey with light grey markings, C. borneensis more brown to green with yellow markings. Just open some of the pics linked to above and I think you'll get the idea.
C) Stature: Adult C. borneensis males seem to be more massive, stout and with a larger head than their C. lorteti counterparts.

Others also have suggested C. lorteti and C. irrubesco have a red anal fin, while the one of C. borneensis is colorless (I cannot confirm this. Neither for C. borneensis, nor for C. irrubeso this seems to be always the case). Other characters are found in the aqualog. Most are not easy to spot.
