I use quite a few pre-filtered RFGG set-ups, so have played with multiple powerhead brands.
This is quite an other thread but I have solved the "slurping" issue! Simply by adding another hose with this toilet thingy at the end. Diy equipment again.
Somehow thing thingy manage to regulate the flow to match the powerhead and kept the "sump" at a steady water level. And the water level at the sump is adjustable. Trial for at least 4 months and the whole system is working as "designed". Tested with cutting the power to my whole house and, not overflow of any sort.
