I think figure 8's are adorable. They look like they have circuitry on their backs. I originally wanted a F8, but the store only had GSP's.

it says it just needs an air pump and no but I can get one.

I wouldn't trust an air driven sponge filter to keep up. That's great for shrimp or baby fishes.

why not?

An air driven filter won't really be able to give you that 10x turn over, and salt bubble splashes are a pain.

Those are used to breed fish because the babies can't get sucked into anything, same with shrimp. An HOB or canister at 10x flow rate is needed for puffers.

I am currently running a marineland penguin 200 on one of my other tanks. would this work for it?

You should save some money and buy an Aquaclear.

hey im a bit late on posting for this thread but i thought if theres a chance you read this its might be worth your while. sorry for digging it up.... look on kijiji and ask around at local fish stores for used aquaclears.. they literally last damn near forever, parts are cheap (except the pump itself) and i find them to work really good. on 2 occasions i have gotten the aquaclear 300 (i think its called) for $20.00 CAN. they are from mid 90's i believe but still work like a complete dream after a good clean and pump TONS of water. Brand new they are quite pricey, but i havent had to worry yet. I also live rural ontario farmland where fish keeping isn't to big of a hobby unless its in a runway for food.
