I tried keeping guppies in my snail tank, but it didn't work out well. The guppies were quite stressed out and I had a heck of a time trying to keep the tank clean. I also had my snails lay lots of eggs, but this produced very few surviving offspring. Now my snail tank is snail only and I have had a much easier time maintaining the tank as well as better success with surviving offspring.

+1 to bertie and energizerfish. A snail tank should just house snails to be optimally successful.

I agree. We had a male guppy in ours as we didn't have anywhere else to put him and he definitely munched on the baby snails and shrimp.

I think someone said they had a school of neons in their snail tank, but I think even tiny mouths can eat the snail babies and eggs.
I have few odessa barbs in mine, I had to move them somewhere and that was my only other appropriately sized place, but they have to go back to the store when we can make it that way.

I had my snails with a betta and never seemed to have any problems

My betta used to eat his snails, he stopped doing it for some reason.

the procedure is less stressful when you use MS-222. Don't use clove oil.

There is no one particular video. I just search and most of them say the same thing. Then I read the comments. I watched one video saying it should be done once per year, but it never said why only doing it once per year. I also seen a comment saying its harmful because sedation causes internal damage. I'm just going with the majority of people who say its safe, especially if using less invasive chemicals like MS222 or no sedation at all.

You *edit* can hold the puffer under water when you trim the teeth, that way no risk of inflating with air.

Yup I first saw that video on youtube, then I found it on this forum. I saw another a video on youtube with owners holding the puff in the air while trimming.

It the fish is tranqued, you can safely hold them out of water for dentistry or surgery, as they are "sleeping".

I have a small 5g with guppies already but I think I will get a 10g for the snails.

Can they eat mystery snails??

I don't know what mystery snail babies are like, but the adults appear too hard.

Some of us prefer to use 95 -100% hard foods and only rarely need to trim dental plates.
