Re: "Lurker" Puffers
They are hunters. Although I do see Filbert doing a lot of lurking.

You are getting sleepy... you only hear the sound of my voice... you must do water changes... water changes... water changes... water changes...

but something like that could prove valuable. If it took overly long the puff might have become accustomed to the tank as it is..Christie_ZXR wrote: As for the journal...I'll think about it! What I might do is copy out a few extracts from it, and cut out all the waffling about how irritating it was that ebay took ages to deliver my new filter etc...lol!
When people post in the hospital and are required to list any changes that happened in the tank over the last 4 week, you'd be surprised how much gets over looked.
if you follow me, you avoid stepping in the crap that I just did...

Re: "Lurker" Puffers
As your puffer is immature, it is really difficult to properly describe it's feeding and hunting styles. Immature Fahakas tend to act largely as ambush predators if not fill lurkers. Few of the adults do so. Also, the owners feeding habits (spacing and size of meals) affects hunting behavior strongly.
Even old (>10-12 years) F-8s become less active. That is quite a contrast to their younger behavior. At first I thought that mine were ill. They ate less and were less active (no longer energizer bunnies; rarely showing distended bellies). They were still not lurkers, just slowed down a bit and never over-ate. That is rare hunter-predator behavior. But I had enough of them that it appears "normal" for captive teenage F-8s - in my tanks at least.
