Huge +1 to PP & I.Puff.Too's comments.
IMNHO, hand feeding puffers qualifies you for the Darwin Awards. Teaching puffers to associate human hands and food is, well, you can figure it out yourself.

Haha thanks for all the advice and funny stories guys! I can still put my hands in the tank and he wont nip me but thats when Im going to pick up shell he's left etc and I put my hand straight in confidently, but if I hover over the water for any amount of time at all he thinks "ah shrimp" and he's straight in there - I would drop in from a height but I dont want him to jump - I know they are good jumpers and Im assuming he'd still see my hand above the surface!
I'll get some tongs!

Camille chomps my hand every chance she gets. She doesn't like MY hand in HER tank, you understand.

Careful! He's gonna figure out you're duping him one of these days, and he's not going to be happy about it.

haha so I successfully managed to pop a shrimp in without him noticing last night (normally they are in his mouth as soon as they hit the water) but this resulted in extremely unhappy boy because he actually had to bother to look for the shrimp he spent a good part of the evening with his nose in his cave on the look out for it!
