Re: New congo! updated with a question!

Post by puffykid »

Hey everyone. So I just finished moving and I have been beginning the task of unpacking. My fish made it find, however I have a question so ever since the congo did the move he has had this white stuff on his bottom lip. At first I thought it was just sand but it seems to be there even though he's been in his tank for a few days now. here's a picture

Thanks for your help!

I remember reading that topic. I am really sorry about how that ended.. Congo's are probably my favorite puffer fish.
did you end up deciding to get another congo?

I got mine under a month ago but he has already grown on me so much (its my first congo). I love how his personality is starting to show, and I marvel at how fast he is growing. I have already started treating with pimafix which he didn't like 1 bit, he turned a dark brown. I put a air pump and have a fan faced downward into his tank to help him breath.

i can't tell from your picture, but does the white stuff on his bottom lip look like what happened with "ollie"?

I've gone back and forth from my tank to looking at your very detailed hd picture at least 3x and from what I can tell its not the exact the same. On my congo the white is appearing on the outer most portion of his lip, while looking at ollie's picture it appears that the white is more on the inside of the mouth.

After dosing him with pimafix his mouth appears more closed then it did before (my congo's mouth before pimafix was opened in a similar way to how ollie looked when you took the picture), and he is falling asleep as I am typing this so I will wait till morning and then go and look at his mouth again and hope that there is improvement

Hey Eieio, since your the only 1 that has answered me lately I'll respond to you.

So I treated the congo with pimafix last night when I looked at him this afternoon his lip seems less white

I did a wc today and I think I will give him another dosage of pimafix tonight
