D. holocanthus can differ with regard to aggression. A friend of mine has a very aggressive one here, who even killed a small grouper and some large damsels. But this the exception, most are timid. It lives with my Zebra moray, which is absolutely harmless, but he is afraid of the eel (which does not have real pointed teeth at all, but just plates), so it leaves the eel alone.

In the long run I'd aim for a 150-180 gallon tank if you want some tank mates. Among clowns I'd choose something rather large, not percula and such.

30% of porcupine success is buying a HEALTHY, eating specimen; 30% is adequate system and care and another 30% is a proper diet with vitamins. 10% is maybe genetics and luck.

Don't expect 20", though. See some threads here discussing the size of D. holocanthus.

Thanks is there a particular clown you would recommend? and could they be kept as a pair or solitary?
I would also like to have stars and your standard snail cleaning crew if possible.

For the stars and the snails this can be hit and miss. We had our D. holocanthus with a Protoreaster (Chocolate chip) for many years until (not long ago) the puffer noticed when the Star was eating and removed the star to get the food by biting the star. So we put them apart. Snails are eaten by our D. holocanthus, some others I know leave them alone.

I don't mind the puff having a snail snack at all.
But I wouldn't want my pretty star to get hurt, maybe I should leave stars out of any puff tank.

maybe ... big maybe. first I nee to find a tank hehe
the owner already said he would hold the puffer at the store for a month if I bought him.
That would give me enough time to cycle and get the live rock going, etc.

but, the tank is the 1st step ... craigslist, here I come hehe. gonna look for a 150g+, 180g+ if I can of course.

Keep checking daily ! I found a 170g for $250 . You just got to be ready to move as soon as you see them I missed several good deal because I couldnt go get them right away!
