But, it wouldn't have been used in this case anyways.
I need to do more research on which parasites are common to dwarf puffers specifically and safe ways to treat everything.
But, I'm pretty sure that tetra clear would would be safe.
Most medicated foods soaked in garlic should work also, right?
I've also been told that Jungle Lifeguard is safe.
But, can anyone confirm those meds are safe for puffers? I'd appreciate it

Looks like parasite guard would prolly be safe. Or, would I want to soak their food in it?

Always soak food in meds for IPs. FW fish must be treated internally, they do not drink water. I had good luck with Jungle Parasite Clear fizz tabs.

doh! jungle clear, not tetra clear. hmmm, is there a tetra clear, it must have got in my head somehow.
Yeah, I assumed I would want to soak em, just wasn't 100% sure for puffers and those specific meds.

On PP's advice, I plan to keep some jungle clear on hand now But, maybe there is a better one?
If anyone starts getting skinny, soak their food in jungle clear is my understanding.

I keep jungle lifeguard on hand for ich also. I would just use half a dose I think.
I think that's the right way. So far I haven't had to use either on any puffs though

Fw ich is generally treated with salt and heat no chemicals needed when it can be naturally treated

very true. I keep both marine and tank salt and all tanks have a heater. good point, natural would be better.

Why do I listen to my LFS?! WHY?!
I was told to mix the powder into boiling water, let it cool then tip it into the tank.
You have to SOAK the food. SOAK the food.
I've read that! On here! I -KNOW- I have to soak the food, so why did I tip the meds into the tank?!

Urgh. Well, luckily I have some on order, that might get here over the weekend, probably monday. And I can use that stuff properly. She's eating though, thankfully. So hopefully can keep her strength up enough, to last until I can give the meds the correct way.
She looks physically brighter in colour today, like much whiter underneath, than the greyish colour she was yesterday. The other Puffer is fine (thankfully!) infact, due to me feeding little and often to try and feed her up, he's gotten into a right little chubbo and will probably be put on a slight diet once I've gotten the girl over this!

Good work! Which meds did you end up getting? And yes malachite bad and unnecessary lol

The Kusuri. On another forum I'm on, (a UK one, but not puffer specific) one of the only other people with puffers said they'd had success with it. And I couldn't find anything else that I could trust. Kusuri does say specifically that it's okay for use with puffers. So, I've got my fingers crossed. Just itching for my own packet to arrive now!

I am glad you did some more research instead of just taking what the lfs as un-refutable truth. I am really hoping that the meds work well and have my fingers crossed that they will pull through just fine! Don't forget to give both puffers the medicated food since even though one isn't showing signs doesn't mean that it is free of parasites. Finally make sure you soak the food in the meds for at least 30 mins and treat for around 3 days to make sure its completely out of their system.

Yea let us know when you get it , how it's used etc. This info will be especially useful for us uk members, also if you could post a list of ingredients etc so we could get rtr to look over it would be massively useful. Once again good work, well done
