yeah if you keep them in a small tank and dont keep up on water changes and testing regularly to remove anything harmful, you might not give your fish a chance to reach 3 inches. he might die before that or he might be stunted. RTR says it best: "a sure way of stunting is upgrading as necessary"

It's also not giving him much room to exercise.

pufferpunk i am figuring out how to add pics now, i have a good one of his tank and favorite hiding place!
i intend on getting a bigger tank soon, just short on money for now but i'm hoping he can wait about 2 weeks! I have been paying very close attention to his water and yesterday did a 50% water change and plan do do them often until I get a bigger tank and even then will do them often. I just want him to be healthy and happy.
sevendaynight thanks for the craigslist tip! i have been searching this morning on craigslist for one if i can find a cheap enough on before payday it's goby's!!
and everyone else thank you for your advice, i never thought goby and i could get such good help! you guys and this site is great!

Nice cave! When you set up the new tank, be sure to use aragonite sand, instead of gravel. Also, that sword isn't going to make it in BW.

I will defitely get the sand! I saw some at the pet store, it's "alive" as I recall? Doing research on it right away! and I love the cave too! Thank you! So it's for salt water.. took me a minute to realize you meant the S word.. I was wondering what sword you were talking about lol! That gravel! Thanks for the tips! This is my first saltwater tank ever. I'm going into this with zero experience just google and of course everyone's help from here! Which I appreciate an goby d so will goby! Can I keep my pretty glass pebbles in the salt water? Goby likes to poke at the blue ones!

"live" sand at the pet store is a ripoff. Get liverock and the sand will become seeded quick enough
