I'm breeding black worms with no problem in three different ways. One in a tank with one inch of pea sized gravel and a over the top style if filter. The second in a shallow container with strips of paper bags as substrate and food source. The third is in a tank with no air supply or filter just pond snails and them. My colony has been going for over a year now.
