She was born to regular size parents...she wasn't bred as a "teacup". She is naturally tiny. Typically dogs of her size have about a 3 year life expectancy because their organs tend to get to large on top of loads of other health problems. When we got her she was 5. I suspected she wouldn't liveuch longer because she was very unhealthy and unhappy. The people who owned had a baby and did not want her around the baby fir fear she would hurt the baby! Diamond couldn't hurt a fly!!! They kept her locked in a closet for nearly a year, just letting her out to potty occasionally. They decided to move to Kuwait and gave het to me. She was instantly a different dog! She's so sweet and happy and fit right in to our family! After they were there fir a year they came home and asked for her back...uh...NO!!!! So she is 8 now and going strong! She acts like a puppy. We also have a Weimaraner that is scared of her...it's too funny...DIamond Is the boss!
