Puffers have teeth that can rip into any meat. Just don't overfeed him.
You are getting sleepy... you only hear the sound of my voice... you must do water changes... water changes... water changes... water changes...

Re: NEW GSP's :)
When my puffer was new to me he would not eat either. I tried many things, but in the end found that feeding him snail (that I crushed in a forcept) got him eating. Then I started feeding him small pieces of night crawlers that I bought from the bait shop. My puffer now enjoys ghost shrimp, scallops, snails, crab, frozen blood worms, frozen shrimp and most stuff on the GSP suggested food list. The only hard part is not OVER feeding him. To round his belly it only takes about 3 small snails, or about a 1/4 of a small scallop. I also have to be careful when adding ghost shrimp to his tank because he will hunt down most of them the first day or two. When he is doing that I opt not to feed him anything else or he will be extremely round.
I hope that helps you.

I noticed you were looking for free pest snails, I go to my local Petsmart and they'll clean out all their tanks for me for free.
Re: NEW GSP's :)
I got a few that way
They aren't breeding though. GRR!

If your tank the snails are in is at, at least room temp or a little warmer it will only be a matter of time till they breed. Also make sure that the snails are getting there own food.
