seems like people are always rude to me (this being this first time in puffer forum)

I recently drip acclimated my GSP from very low BW (1.002) to high BW (1.018) over the course of about 12hrs. This is what I did & it worked for me. I have no idea if it is technically correct though!
I put him in a bucket next to the tank he was going into, with just the water he came to me in. In the bucket was a heater & a small powerhead. I used a length of airline tubing (the sort you use with airstones) & put one end in the tank & the other in the bucket. Tie a knot in the tubing (the tightness can be adjusted as required) Then start the siphoning process with a tiny suck. It should literally "drip" out. I can't remember the drip rate I used. I did however have a refractometer, so was able to monitor the SG throughout & adjust the drip rate.
Hope that helps a little - but definately a trip out to get a hydrometer or refractometer asap I'm afraid. Good luck!

That can be done,....not recommended if it can be helped,...but you are talking about drip acclimating it into an already cycled aquarium. Not the case here. I agree it is panic but it is not fair to take out your frustration over your own foolishness on the people trying to help.

The only chance this fish has is to give it to someone who knows what they are doing.

It's not you I promise! People tend to get rude and stubborn for some reason in these situations.

Thank you so much for your reponse. We are doing what you suggested, and he is doing well. We will be getting a refractometer when we can, and thank you again so much.

Well, just wanted everyone to know that the fish has now been in his BW tank for over 3 hours, swimming fine. He has eaten, and appears to be doing well.
I have raised other green spotted, and figure 8's to live long lives in freshwater-BW water actually, this one was the first one I got straight from salt water tank. All the other ones I got from fresh water tanks at stores.
So, thanks for everyone's "help", We'll see how he does through the night.

I'm glad everyone's calmed down here. You just have to understand a specialized forum like this one, is full of folks very passionate about the species. They're health & welfare is more important to most of us than sounding rude, when they feel a puffer's life is at stake.

It does sound like the tank ins't cycled, am I correct? The 1st 3 hours (or even 24) he may seem OK but I guarantee you it will be difficult to keep him healthy in that tank, especially since he't under-housed. Here is info you must follow ASAP. You're going to have to do something about this tomorrow: library/water-filtration/emergencycycle/

I understand everyone's passion and concerns.
He is doing well today, and we are working on getting a bigger tank-55 gallon, which we should have by wed.
We will work on setting that tank up and starting the process for him to move to that tank after it has been cycled.
