I just use the end of a hook and slip it under the shell where it meets their thorax (behind the head) and swizzle it around. It incapacitates them but doesnt kill right away

My Fahaka annihilates any size of crayfish, and he's still only about 10 months old and a fifth his full size.
Actually thats a funny story, during summer I catch crayfish a my local lake and caught many with 1 claw.
but yah they are supposed to have claws.
Some of the crays I have, only have 1 claw also. When they molt, they usually grow it back...
As for your puffer being hurt by a crayfish, come one guys. A fahaka puffer isn't going to get hurt by a cray. I've fed mine full grown, mean looking buggers, and they didn't even have a chance to raise their claws in defense. Plus, my puffer is not a fan of "dead" food. He loves his chase. I have yet to see a cray stand and defend itself. They simply try running (swimming) away from the puffer. My puffer usually comes down from above and bites them in half on the first attack.

Ive had one stand and defend, and latch onto his face. And pullin off the claws wont kill them.

I assume your puffer is fine? No permanent damage?

True, he is fine
But this is one of those debates that have no right or wrong answer and will never end.

I don't think I would worry so much with a larger Fahaka so much...but my f8's are small. I want a Fahaka so bad. I watch Craigslist faithfully for a nice 150g. There's a poor one-eyed Fahaka on there right now that I wish I could have
