this being my 2nd congo, im well aware of their colour changing abilities. i know they can easily change from orange to brown. i just hope it's equally easy for it to change from brown back to orange. paid alot for this guy.

two months ago, there was a batch of light orange/sandy looking coloured congos which were going for about 80 plus SGD. this time the orange congos are going for about 140 SGD. almost twice the amount.

if i want him to change back to bright orange, would red sand or those very fine light coloured sudo sand be a better choice?

Red is better.

So, does this mean that Congos have a certain amount of camouflage ability? I have mine on a combo of white aragonite sand and natural colored pebbles. She stays brown and sometimes develops a black freckle or two. Will the brown ones get any color to them with red sand? How about red color food?

which isnt necessarily a good thing, i wish it would just stay orange forever. i think i will go with light fine sand as red sand is almost as rare as the cross river puffer here in singapore.

That's why red gravel works fine, as long as it's no more than 50% mixed with sand, so he can still burrow.

Hopefully this isn't a big fat thread hijack.... I used to make my own 3D backgrounds until I found this guy. Big ones can be pricey. Small ones cost less than the materials for the ones that I make.

i only managed to find white sand and sudo (brown) sand. both are very fine. which would be a better choice to get my congo to turn back to orange?
