So even a 6ftx2ftx2ft is no good for these 2?

Bigger problem is compatibility.

I presume the puffer might attack the burr as they get older? As burrfish are generally shy.

purplecandle, chill. She's new. There's a big difference between refusing to house a fish properly and not knowing. She says she's new to puffers. Most people come here to learn. Let's be friendly to our newbies.

Thats more like it I have been recommended this forum by a number of people. I was surprised by the reaction of some. But i'm sure there are people here who can help me do what is best for my Puff and Burr. I have a mature 4x2x2 reef as well. so i do know how to keep water.

I definitely would not suggest keeping them in a reef. We'd love to see some pics of your reef, in the Marine forum!

I have no intention keeping them in my reef, too many shrimp, crabs and small fish.

I was told the puff was a dogface but i knew it wasn't, so at least i have a more positive id.

I just finished reading through this thread, I couldn't help but laugh.

A couple questions just purely out of personal interest; Is it possible to get another shot of the burrfish from the top? Also, has he always had those yellow markings?

I'm just praying that it is not velvet because it is a really nice specimen you have there

I can try get a better one. Always had those markings, like a heart shape in it's head and a bit more down it's back.

Your puffer is a Arothron/dogface species.

The immaculate puffer grows quite large and you will therefore need a large aquarium if you want to keep this species. They are best kept in aquariums no smaller than 100 gallons /400 L.

Just not the one commonly sold as dogface puffer in the uk.
That is why i'm looking for a bigger tank for when it needs it
