Not more than .002 a week. It won't take massive amounts for low end brackish.

Are you using marine salt? You can safely raise the SG .002/week. A rough estimate is that it can take around a cup of salt/5g to make a SG of 1.005.

So long as you stay below 1.007-1.008 you will not affect the nitrification bacteria, but you do not need to jump it up too quickly. Increasing by 0.002 per week is fine IME.
For me, F-8s are kept at 1.003- 1.005. I see no need for anything higher, but I do use aragonite substrate always to add extra KH buffering to the tank. Without that, I would likely use a bit higher specific gravity just for the increase in alkalinity. Stable relatively high KH is important for long life in these fish IME.
