not is not "hard work" per say, but I can't leave the room during a water change.

Draining is the difficult part.

My tank is sub grade (the tank is lower than the drain) so the water has to work uphill. If you plan it correctly from the beginning you'll be happy with the end results.

Just tossing a tank anywhere in your home and saying "it looks nice there" is ok... but you have to plan out EVERYTHING before filling it especially larger tanks. Even shuffling smaller tanks is a PITA.

Do it right from the start.

Yeah a Python is a live safer especially with large tanks.

I do have multiple Pythons now, but I could survive with fewer. Frankly, I would not be able to keep tanks anymore if it all had to be done manually. The more i can do with pumps and tubing, the more tanks i can keep and enjoy.

Yeah, the Python is a lifesaver (& backsaver) for large tanks!

Well, I'd broaden it to anyone who has multiple tanks. None of my current tanks are large, all are low mid-range tanks, but there are some number of them.

J-P has the concept - pre-planning is key for me. I can sit and think and plan and sketch for hours, then test, then set the easiest path to be followed routinely. Shooting yourself in the foot has long and constantly renewed history among tank-keepers - we have all done it, usually repeatedly. I do know that PP's partials are rather tightly choreographed as well. Most multi-tank folk really need to do that - it is a survival trait for us. And most of us spend less time on the basic chores of fish-keeping than most novices - there are learning curves involved, but once worked out, it is, or should be undemanding work.
