Not taking BIO til January. And I wouldn't even know who to ask...

As for how far my parents live, 4.5 hours away. And they won't let me bring my boys home until summer...
We will run from neither fears nor dreams...

I really think it's time to investigate LFS about taking at least 2 of them. There seems to be a nice SW fish store in your town.

I can't get there. No car. And everyone is leaving already for Thanksgiving.

I would rather not give them up... Is there anyway I can keep them?

I wish you could trade them for 3 dwarf puffers.

You can keep them alive in a small tank for a couple of weeks. Most of us quarantine new puffers in smaller tanks for a few weeks before putting them in their big tanks..

But no they cannot live for long in a tank that small. Too much waste, the each will get as big as a Nerf football, and they will become extremely aggressive.

You are already seeing their aggression developing:
http://www.monsterfishkeepers.com/forum ... p?t=370476

You are also seeing toxic levels in your severely overstocked tank:
http://www.monsterfishkeepers.com/forum ... p?t=370448

There is absolutely no way those fish are going to survive until June. I have taken 3 buses & a train in a blizzard to buy drugs from a guy i wasn't sure was even going to be there (I'm a recovering addict of 12 years). You can fins a way to get there.

At least call these places:

I have been to Sea Critters Depot... Sketchy place. It looked like a shack. And he had no puffers at all. Lots of clown fish though....

The other one I have never heard of.. I will call. But I really hate this. I can't give them up.... It's really hard.

I don't know how many of you read the entire post from monsterfish or if my post is even still there. But when it comes to my depression, my boys help. Last night was extremely hard for me and I went at sat by their tank and just talked to them and we played around for over 3 hours. Then I did a water change and was finally able to go to bed... If I don't have them I could potentially harm myself very badly.... :(

Are you in therapy/on meds? You really can't put this onto fish. It's not fair to them to keep them in these conditions. you are already seeing the beginnings of the problem with this & it's only going to get worse from here on for them. You need serious help if you are that depressed (I say this with total past experience). How will your state of mind be when you find one or all of them dead?

You can put 3 dwarf puffers in a 10g. Some of the best fish stores are mom & pop stores that just look like shacks. Read the reviews of that place, the folks there really sound like they care. Just because they didn't have any puffers there, doesn't mean they won't house yours & make sure they go to a proper home.

A) find suitable housing.
B) find a place for that housing

Since you live on campus the ppl I would ask:
Biology teacher
Dorm manager (90g display tank in the lounge)

Next:
Are there any nursing homes in the area? My grandmother's nursing home has a HUGE arowana tank in it maintained by someone else. Apparently it is relaxing for them and maintainance (sp) free (for them).

Envision in your mind, their perfect home. Then, start trouble shooting by walking backwards. Placement, tanks size, where.. do you have access? etc...
Possibly some nice Condo's in your area that wouldn't mind a display tank that they don't have to maintain.

It is very doable, they question is HOW?

The other fish store is over 45 minutes away... I can't get there.

As for the sketchy place. The guy didn't know anything about puffers when I was there. I know I have STML but I clearly remember asking him about them and he said he'd never dealt with them. :(

and Yes I am in therapy. But no meds for my depression because they react badly with my other meds. :( Ugh I feel like such a screw up...

you're not a screw up ... just stuck between a rock and a hard place.

That is almost exactly how I got started (and many others)... welcome to the wonderful world of puffers :)

You are not a screw up. You were misled by Walmart, just like every single person who buys a puffer from them. I understand your love for these animals.

What other meds are you on? There's got to be something that will work for you.
