Btw, just to reiterate, the excretion is coming from somewhere about 1/4" in front of the anus and at times it was coming out while something else was coming out of the anus. I tried to find a pic of puffer anatomy but all I could find are some for regular fish, could it be coming from something like genital or urinary orifices?

He does seem to be swollen but he is also in new distress since adding the Epsom Salts. Removing the Epsom Salts to see if the timing of the new distress is coincidental or caused by the change in the water from adding the salts. If he improves in a short time the Epsom is more than likely the cause, not necessarily directly though. Trying to relieve constipation can be very taxing on the fish physically causing the inability to swim. The poo looks to be IP's from the pics posted also, I would treat the IP's and then start the Epsom salt again towards the end of the IP treatment.

Oh my, it's like that stuff isn't even coming out of the anus at all!

I think that I might be tempted (gloved, since I've no clue what it is) try to pick the puff up and carefully, gently inspect... I too have searched for an hour for information on puffer anatomy, where the eggs excrete, look like, anything... The only thing I can find info on is how they inflate, and where their spines are...

Don't know if this helps at all, but these are pics of immature eggs excreting from a puffer (Puffer is dead)

A little graphic-

It didn't look like that, mine was brown and kinda flaky looking.

He/she has been laying on it's side just pushing around the bare-bottom and I don't expect it to live through tomorrow. Keep you fingers crossed though.

When I purchased the fish last Sunday a chose him over one of the others that had an almost perfect "?" pattern on it's back and head. And now I question my decision. 8)

Well the fish died on Monday.

Just goes to show ya, just because you pick the healthiest looking fish in the tank, it still may have problems. I must've sat in front of that tank for a half an hour total studying those fish to find the right one.

That fish never ate a single thing and only pooped a few parasites in the whole eight days. If and when I decide to buy another one I will go before their feeding time so I can watch them eat.

I bagged it and have it in the freezer so I may dissect it to see what was going on inside that fat belly.

Thanks all...
