I've started to move all the "extra" mushrooms and leathers from my reef tank to Zephyr's tank and he completely ignores them... I'm gonna try zenias next, but every time I pull some out, a friend pipes up and wants it

Not too knowledgeable, likely just had good luck.

I had a pair of GSP, one of which became a carpetfish when I had a fish sitter for a week....

Neither ate my corals. As stated previously and tube worm was game, and one rock which was loaded with them became toothpicks in a day.

To date I have successfully kept the remaining one with:
Montipora
Acro's
Birdsnest... though to be fair he did take to that one when a rogue hermit got in there... ate the hermit and left the nest alone after...
Hammer
Torch
Spawn
Fungia plate
Encrusting horn
Zoa's
Palys
All shrooms... he sleeps in a set of fuzzys when the little tom clown isnt there...
trumpet
acans
blastos
and galacia.

As a pair I had a coral banded with them.... when he was first added they pack hunted it... it tried to grab one in a bear hug... puffer took away an arm, and they lived in piece for 9 months... sold the coral banded due to a slight issue with it attacking a coral.

As was mentioned earlier, results not typical, but still results. I dont buy high end because clown likes to hump torches and wavy things to death occasionally... but they each have their mushroom patch, and seem content.

in a shroom tank I think its a great thing... they tend to like the dirtier water... I want xenia now (change in focus) but that may be too much temptation for nibbling.

Was your puffer an adult?

This is great! I have just finished facilitating the migration of my GSP from freshwater out the brackish estuaries to full marine.
I am about to setup a full SW tank with live rock and was wondering what will and will not work with my GSP (Junior).

Seems like brain coral and mushrooms will be a good bet. I think i may start there once everything is up a cycled.
I was thinking about tossing in a feather duster into my current grow out tank to see what happens. They are not much money and if it gets eaten. Well, at least Junior got a meal out of it. But i was hoping the feather duster will feed on the bacteria and help keep the water clean. in my eyes, either way it is a win win.

I have my GSP, Spot in with;
xenia,
colt,
kenya tree,
chalices,
acans,
toadstool,
mushroom
and had a bird's nest till it got RTN and he hasn't bothered any of them.

Mine may not be a typical GSP as he doesn't bother my CUC of snails and a hermit, nor does he even try for the pistol shrimp or any other fish including fry.
I've had him for a year or so and he's about 4" long.

Just like with any puffer, it's hit or miss. My fahaka allows a host of tank mates.

My Ceylon ate a big piece of Montipora Digitata....


I had to frag a piece from my main reef, and added it to his tank... He went straight after it! Yummy... apparently.
