I am not aware of that product and cannot confirm if it does or does not work. If it does not require refrigeration and have an expiration date, you can pretty much bet that it is not live bacteria though and would likely be a waste of money.

I prefer fishless cycling when possible and Bio-Spira would be my choice if I needed to quick-cycle a tank. I personally would not trust other products for quick cycling without first conducting a series of tests (without fish) to verify that they really work. I did some quick searches on the Net though and found several posts on the web indicating that bio-support is in the same category as "Cycle", "Stress Zyme" and other miracle products. NIMFT but YMMV

Just checked BigAls - their description for their BioSupport says that its the "same formulation as AP Stress Zyme".

If you can get the Bio-Spira, that's the way to go at this point.

I just talked to the guy at the store where I purchased the puffers. He assured me that it was not saltwater ich. So, I will buy the Bio Spira, raise the temperature and salinity. How much can I raise the temperature at a given time without hurting the fish? Jennifer

I'd raise it a couple of degrees every 12 hours until you get around 84-86 (which always scares me). Your SG should be fine for killing off the ich.

Kass, there is no other product other than or similar to Bio-Spira.

Damn, I just cycled a tank with it, after I heard from 3 different people at 3 different Big Al's that it was the same as bio-spira. However, the tanks holding out fine, no ammonia or nitrates at all after 2 weeks. I also did use the sand substrate from a previous brackish tank though, which might have helped... although the tank is freshwater now....
