Also get "A New Record of the Marine Puffer Fish Genus, Chelonodon (Tetraodoniformes, Tetraodonitae) from
Freshwater Habitat of Western Ghats, India." by Muthukumarasamy Arunachalam et al. online or from the library.

YES, I got this paper a few days back. Yet to go through it well.

Same fish, TFS.
I also went through a very interesting discussion by members here on pufferpedia and their was fish highlighted almost same as this one and called Arothron firmamentum. But I'll first get Banjo to get some real good closeups of the narines / nostril.
There is another BW puffer sold under the trade name of Gold Spot Puffer and these we get on the Eastern and South Eastern Coast inland waterways, I attach here a pic though not mine but was in my files, will try to recall who took the pic and later on acknowledge.

Yes, when these fishes (the first ones) were caught we also thought of A. firmamentum, but it was easily outruled (we discussed this a few years ago, if you can get it translated to English also get: HIMMEL, M. & LICHTENBERGER, M.: Erstimport von Chelonodon patoca? – Nr. 18, Juli/August 2008, 4(4): 56-59; alot of further literature references and a detailed discussion of this species is found there) by the number of fin rays (important character and significantly larger in A. firmamentum), the nostrils (smaller on A. firmamentum), the number of spots (larger on A. frmamentum compared to the first puffer of this thread). I'd start another thread for the second puffer.

Thank's Corvus, for referring me to what I'm sure are great info. will get on it.
I'd start another thread for the second puffer.
That will be my plan once i get hold of a coupla specimens atleast so as to ensure pics from all angles. This fish purported to be C. patoca I had received years ago and my friend who had it sent me the only one pic

I'm really sorry Corvus but a friend who is currently housing the Yellow Spots just refuses to have the fish taken out of a much planted and decorated tank to get closeups of the narines/nostrils. He feels the fish will get too stressed and might cop it too. Anyway, I have to wait until my friend from the South West part of India sources me some more.

You gotta admire the guy, he is, afterall, thinking about the puffer's well being (in regards to not wanting it removed from the tank).
