sh1rang, I'd say again that your technical English is excellent

There may be some video out there for 'burping pufferfish' but who is to say it is the correct procedure?

This is an area I've not experienced before because none of my puffers have ever 'puffed up'. Yet!

I am interested in the difference of signs between a puffer 'rolling' due to ingested air or neurological/brain damage caused by poisoning?

Can we tell?

Wouldn't a puffer that's ingested air have a hard time staying down? Whereas with my Uno he was able to swim and stay down but as things progressed he just rolled around. And it sounds like sh1rang's Palembang was doing the same thing as Uno.

Well, that's close but there have been times where I've had to grab the puffer by it's tail & really shake hard, to get the air out. Also, I don't think I'd want a porcpuff puffing in my bare hands!

Yeah, those spines can pierce the skin.

So, if a puffer is rolling and not having buoyancy probs then that might be neurological from nitrite or any other form of poisoning?

Bahasa? I'll have to look that one up - I'm interested in languages, just rubbish at them! I knew someone once who came from the Big KL and spoke in a broad 'Geordie' english accent. When I asked him where he was from he said -'Hey, I'm from Malaysia, me!' It was hilarious because we were down in the south of the UK where the accent is more BBC english. Well, these days it's getting at lot more 'London' or cockney.

Well, with Uno, I did shake him vigorously by the tail, as I've had to do that when I've had puffers puff up before, but nothing happened. So I don't think trapped air had anything to do with Uno's demise. I'm starting to think poisoning of some sort, especially with how quickly those F8's went downhill. And I know the water parameters were spot on because I was diligent in checking after Uno died.

PPG, If those are the same puffers with the dyed plants, I might guess poisoning too.

From personal experience of trying to burp a large mbu puffer, if you are not 100% certain they have swallowed air, which it is very easy to tell, DO NOT try to burp them.
It is probably the worst thing to do, is to touch your puffer when they are sick and stressed out. I do not know for certain, but I would say if your puff cannot swim properly or is floating upside down and their tummy does not look puffed. I would try doing a large water change, make sure to test water before the water change, treat tank for constipation (with salt), and keep the lights off and cover the tank with a light sheet or blanket .. make sure to allow air to still be able to enter the tank.. and do daily water changes or as you see fit to the situation.
