Question About Vitamins for Freshwater Tank

Cool, so 1 drop of Vita-Chem per cube of bloodworms. Got it. THX PP.

PPG, I always added more then 1 drop and my puffers are fine, but if 1 drop is fine then a bottle of vitamins will last me much longer.

Can I hurt my fish if I'm giving them too much vitamin? I tend to put all my bloodworm in a plastic container and then pour the vitamins over it, and then I dish out a little with a spoon to eat tank that takes bloodworm. I've been doing it that way all along.

I highly doubt it. After all the food can only absorb so much. Think of the food like a sponge. It'll absorb a cup of water but that's it. Pouring a gallon of water on it won't make it absorb any more once it's saturated.

Well I didn't exactly think I was killing them with vitamins, but sometimes if we're not sure about something, we might be doing a little damage and never know it. So I thought I better ask.

Definitely and it's a good question. I'm not 100% sure but that's what logic tells me.

I think they're fine but vits are kinda $$$ so why waste them? They're very concentrated.

I did find Nourish by Seachem. Don't know if it is any good, but your LFS may be able to get it. 2L for $70

I only see Kent products available in marine versions.

You would never use a gallon J-P It is expensive but check MOPS, P&P, or JL Aquatics. About half the price of it in the store.

Yeah most of the Kent products that are readily available are for marine, but they do a freshwater version, which is very nice I might add. Thing is, the place I got it from (the first bottle) had it at a really good reduced price and that's when I thought I'd buy the other bottle they had for sale. However, it came as the marine version unfortunately.

LOL!! ok ok ... as with everything I pick the big bottles. I have not had to use it so I wouldn't know. Just comparing 2 similar sized bottles and one was drastically cheaper than the other.

LOL, I'm waaaay off my game with a head cold this week...
I read this thread as it came up, but more with vague interest than any sense of personal relevance... Then this AM as I prepared the puff food, it occurred to me that my vitamins ARE marine and that it's what I've been using all along, for both Frankie (fw) and Zephyr (sw). And now for the new f8...
So I will order some fw vites for Frankie. But for the f8, assuming that I have both on hand, which is ideal, the marine or freshwater ones??? FWIW he's in fw with just a hint of marine salt but I plan on getting him up to 1.005...
