They are very cool though for someone that wants something interesting. I get a laugh out of their antics, especially at meal time.

Actually I would say "no" on the dwarf Indian mudskippers. I have mine in a 20-gallon tank and that just seems adequate (I would think a tank bigger than 20-gals would be even better). I think a 10-gallon would just be too small. And you have to have more than one. Mudskippers enjoy having others around, at least that's my theory from watching mine, which I've had for a couple of years now.

Re: 10g that needs some awesome put in it
My suggestions:
Suggestion #1: 1 Male betta with 2 nerite snails and 5 red cherry shrimp.
Suggestion #2: Female betta sorority with 5 female bettas
Suggestion #3: a blue cray
Suggestion #4 mickey mouse platy's
Suggestion #5 big invert tank. 2 nerite snails, some pond and ramshorn snails, and 30 or so red cherry shrimp with some ghost shrimp
Suggestion #6 2 dps<-*I recommend this one the most
. So cute!*
Suggestion #7 1 dwarf gourami
Suggestion #8 5-6 pygmy cories
Or. If you wanted to go the brackish route. Some fiddler crabs *3 per 10g seems about right* would suit that tank well.

I like it J-P: that blue ringed octo would keep everyone out of the fish room in case it got out! Which it very well might given a tiny gap...

Dude... I know this doesnt fit with our aquatic nature and all... But a friend of mine has started a small mantid habitat. You can buy babies or oothica from this guy http://mantiskingdom.com/index.php?main_page=index or others on the net. The Grandis is an indian mantid and its pretty killer, im just fascinated with this type of insect. Ive been looking into getting one soon... just havent found the time...
A pair of Grandis...

otherwise, I seem to agree with the Tanganyikan biotype and shell dwellers......

I was thinking of one for the sump of the new tank, but I have cats so I kind of ditched that idea. It would be like sending my wife out in her reindeer suit to take out the garbage during hunting season

Mantids? Good one
Triggered me into thinking a pistol or mantis shrimp. If I ever come across one in a shop it's coming home with me regardless!

Re: 10g that needs some awesome put in it
Sorry I didn't get on here in a few days (I just got fired from work & bummed around doing nothing for a few days as therapy, haha) to respond about the shell dwellers - nothing too specific about them from my personal experience except to make sure you have enough shells for them to hide in. And we had a few die when we moved them to a larger tank so I'd guess they're sensitive to stress. But maybe it was just fish keeper error. Have you come to a decision for the tank yet?
