so, what lights exactly would be enough? my hood takes two light bulbs, and says not to have either one higher than 25 watts

Well Mezz, thats your tank. I really dont think an incandescent hood is going to maintain the right temp for him. Better safe than sorry. Orchid did you look at the link I posted? You should pick up two of the 50/50 bulbs if you cant afford to change light fixtures.

how big are those lights though? the lights in mine are around 6 inches each

They'll fit. They're meant to replace incandescent bulbs.

On my 10g nano I have two 50/50 10w Coralife bulbs and it looks amazing with the LR in there, I picked out pieces full of coraline aand I got a bunch of cool hichhickers.
