I think a plant scape picture can look real cool with real plants. Our 10g has that and sometimes I think it makes it look even more planted.

I have to agree with Hierony, sometimes plants and rocks on a background can add to the fullness of the tank. I've got several different backgrounds on my tanks and I prefer the "plants" type.

I see what yall mean, it does look good. what did you do to get it to stick evenly? When ive tried in the past i always had trouble getting it to lay flat

double sided clear tape. I'd run it around the edges, and voila, it sticks right down to it, and stays put.

Ya I like it a lot. At times I've found myself late at night wondering where I got the extra piece of drift wood. I'm trying to decide what to pick out for my congo tank now. I really like that pattern but it really doesn't go with my plant scheme in the bigger tank.

I wonder; since your congo's tank has a light pink sand (if I do remember correctly...) I wonder if you found an image you liked online (maybe something that would help bring out the sand, or the sand would help the backdrop pop?) If you saved it to a flash drive/disk - would an office place (such as Kinkos) print it at a size that would fit the back of your tank? *more grinding wheels* I need to stop thinking so much..

Ya we could definitely do that. In fact my mother in-law has her own sign printer in Florida. So we could really just send her an image and get her to print it off. I think Badjuujuu had mentioned that idea to me as well, but being a guy (slow and paying attention 50% of the time on a good day) I had forgot.

I put on backgrounds by smearing the back of the tank with Vaseline. I push all the air pockets and extra vaseline out with a credit card, then wipe off the excess and tape down the two side edges with clear packing tape. This prevents any water splash from getting behind it(major pain in brackish or SW tanks) and makes the background much brighter, blending it in with the tank decor.

Ok, now that is a great amazing idea. I bet it looks better that way... I'm going to try it!

Ewww yuck, I hate messing with Vaseline! There's a product you can buy that allows you to put the background on the inside of the tank. I bought it, but never bothered to try it out!
