my buddy has a 1000 gallon tank and numerous other tanks (i kid you not) for his puffers and other fish. he has been working with his GSPs for over 30 years. i think he knows what he is doing. he does not convert the tank all at once. he has the tank set up and cycled before converting them. he then uses the water from the tank to convert the fish. after a day, or whenever the sg and chemistry matchs, he puts the fish in the already set up tank.

AH, that's different then. Aclimating them to a cycled tank isn't what I thought you meant. Still though, I'd prefer to do it the less stressful way if I could.

i would like to set up a tank for salt so i can get the live sand, live rock, etc. asap.

I understand that, for sure. I've learned though that patience can really be a virtue in this hobby.

i know, and wish i could, but i have a tank cycling for my fresher water fish and my buddy was going to help before he moves.
