Sounds like poodle bites

I did not think they would leave such perfect round bites until I witnessed one poodle bite another.

Because they were so round that's why I thought the Algae eaters got to them when they were sleeping or resting. It does not look like the skin is broken.. just "crop circles"

I do not know anything about SAEs..and I have read somewhere that algae eaters can suck on fish....but perfect circles sound just like puff bites..

What happens is as the puff bites another puff...the puff's skin bunches up inside the mouth..so it is almost like the puff is biting a folded piece of paper...and since the teeth are shaped the way they are you get an impression on one side of the paper and a second impression on the other side......when the puff is done biting and the paper flattens out you have the appearance of a circle...

Because puff skin is rubbery (for a lack of a better word) often the bite impression is more like a bruise...

But, if a puff bites something like a plant or a mussel..you will see round chunks taken out..

ahhh got ya! but double circles? One inside the other? Unless they bite and while holding on the make a second attempt. The double circle reminds me of the way a sucker fish bites. The outer ring where it attaches itself and the inner ring where the mouth attempts to bite.

I haven't had a chance to look at the little guy with the one behind its eye. I'll try tonight after work.
