This was our exact conversation (me and the employee):

Me: Erm, hello... Do you guys order plants?

Her: We can, let me write down the ones you want and we'll see-

Me: Actually I've got a list right here. It's kinda long, so I wrote one to save you the trouble.

Her: Oh, okay. Well, he (the boss) has access to all kinds of plants. I'll just forward this to my boss. Do you have your name and number?

Me: At the top there.

Her: Okay, yep. We'll call you with what we can order soon.

Might be a few words off of the /exact/ conversation... But you get the just of it. I meant to go to another as well, but we were on a tight schedule and we passed the deadline before we even got in the first store, so... Yeah.

Here is a list of plants that I currently have in my 10 & 5.5 gallon low tech tanks. Low lights and no fert.

10 gallon

All are doing very well especially the Ludwiga Natans.

I really like the two grasses, the wisteria and the "tears."

Something else to think about now... Don't want to copy you though.

Shouldn't bw an issue, in fact additional magnesium and calcium will be much appreciated but if you're only growing Anubias Nana you shouldn't have to dose much if at all unless your lighting is strong and driving the plant to absorb more nutrients - floating plants will help shade the Anubias if necessary.

You know, I never even thought about floating plants... O.o

The lighting is rather strong with regards to WPG, however being a five gallon tank this shouldn't matter too much. Perhaps I'll put some Java Moss in there as well.

The filter on the 5g has a sponge, so the intake shouldn't suck up any of the plant either.

I've also revised my plant-stocking list again. I've taken some of the larger ones out of the equation, as well as added a few to expirement with. As follows:

I've decided to propagate the mosses and transplant them into the ten gallon (and now the five gallon) instead of buying numerous plants. Much more logical and less expensive!

I've e-mailed the list to the store owner this time to ensure it actually gets to him.

Anyone know where I might buy a timer for the lights to keep a normal schedule, so the plants don't get confused and of course so as not to freak out the puffer?

home hardware has both manual and digital. I have 2 digital timers that I have yet been able to figure out

I'll assume Home Depot should be much the same then (no Home Hardware in NL).

So much to do over Easter...

If you go to Home Depot, check and see if they have a sale table. I got a whole bunch of digital timer powerbars there a couple weeks ago...they were marked at $11 but scanned through at $5...

Only five bucks? That's almost too good.

I'll speculate that the price should be the same here, minus the HST/GST, meaning that the timer would be regularly priced at $11. A lot cheaper than I would have thought.

Good idea
Just a tip: when you plant the moss, cut it right back and you will get more vigorous growth so you can fill up the other tanks and areas quicker

I'm excited to see how this turns out. Just hope the Congo decides that the plants are nice, and doesn't uproot/bite the stems off. :S

I've been wondering about something:

Do you guys think it would be safe to place two small branches in the 10g without boiling? I've had them on display on a shelf in my room for several years.

Not really. Fungus spores in crevices and bark can least decades. Does it have any bark at all? If so, that will foul the water amazingly fast. Also, if it's unknown wood, it may contain dangerous resins. I'd not risk it.
