it depends
dont quote me on this but, if the water is so hot its cooking them a water change to just get it below the instant death point and then let it cool down slowly couldn't hurt, but if its just pretty hot i would let it cool. rapid temp changes will kill. just like going into 0C water temps in the winter can stop a persons heart!!
