I'm sure she'd be happier in the 20gal though if you're still getting it

That's a irrubesco female by the way, and she will get no bigger than 2". I find that the females stay rather small, while the males are the ones who get fairly large (but still not longer than 2"). I also think if she keeps just this ONE puffer, she can keep her in the 10-gallon, obviously any puffer is going to be happier in a bigger tank, but I don't think it's imperative that she upgrades right now. However, having said that, I find that irrubesco are nicer in groups. I have 3 females and 2 males and they all get along really well, no problems at all.

How large is the tank that they're in PPG?

I vaccumed the gravel and did a 25% water change this morning. The Ph is 6.8 - 7.0 now but the nitrates are still pretty high. Should I do another water change tomorrow and test it again or should I wait for a bit? I'm not sure how often I can do major water changes though. Any suggestions?

I'd do another 50% WC tonight.

They used to share a tank with my Mbu, salivator puffer, rasboras, gobies, Corys and an aquatic crab, but I've just moved them to their very own tank, a 3-footer, and they are all doing fine. But I can't stress enough that irrubesco puffers need lots of plants. They hide in them, they sleep in them, and overall they just feel more secure with lots of plants. So I always make sure to provide them with a nicely planted tank, as well as giving them some half coconut shells to hide in.
