YAY!!!! a fellow fahaka owner!!!! congrats... thought of any names yet? i like Cairo, as in cairo, egypt, since they nile runs through it, and theyre from the nile... wish i thought of the name before i named my fahaka :(

if i had 350 gal, i would make a good sturdy divider, maybe out of some opaque plexi glass... and divide it... get yourself 2 fahakas!!!!!! the more the marrier! that would make 175 gals for each side. still PLENTY of room. Or maybe an arowana, i read they need about 125 gals as well, so still enough room for one.... or, what else, some HUGE angel fish? that would be cool.

youd probably have to drill holes in the plexi glass for water flow, and maybe attach them with some heavy duty suction cups (thats what i did with my dividers) you have to replace the suction cups like every 6mo for them to stay strong, but they are cheap... anyway, thats what id do, it would be sweeetttt....

PS- congrats on your fahaka, hope it arives healthy and well.

EDIT: i just remembered, there is a place by me that regularly carries fahakas, they have 2 at the moment, and are almost always in stock... they are babies, about 2 inches... they are only $24... i bet if you divided the tank, and really wanted another one, we could probably work something out and i can ship it to you... bet it would be less than 70 bucks all together :) just a thought...

Gratz, I wanted a MBU, but knew there was no way I could afford the 1000+ gal setup, so I went with a Fahaka :) I would never give him up :)

Good luck

Don

350 should last him long enough for you to build him his eventual, larger home. How big is he now?

Very nice, I think Mbu's are more stunning (those HUGE tails) and easier to keep with tankmates, but very few people can provide them with the tank space they need.

I think you'll be very happy with it, and 350 gallons is a great place for one to start out in as a youngster, as long as a much larger tank is on the way.

he is only 4" delivery on Tuesday with a 5 day gaurante""""yea the glass company does our comercial sites i just have to purchase the glass...theve built huge 2 story set ups for bass pro outdoor world ...they also made my lids for my 350 that i have now and wouldve made that tank but i bought it new from a tank maker just didnt think about it at the time...I have 2 living areas one story and the tank is in our main room currently and I have plenty of space where the tank is now to house the 1000+ set up ....the plumbing is already there ...I think if we ever move and i build again the house will be built around the fish tank first ...lol :D

so excited for my MBU always wanted one giant freshwater puff...

Smaller is far better for the biggies - less chance of their being stunted already. That 3" should be fine and grow fast. You should make full size in that tank with some current - they are strong swimmers. Good luck with the Fahaka!
