Stability® will rapidly and safely establish the aquarium biofilter in freshwater and marine systems,

No one product can contain both FW & SW bacterias.

Use 1 capful (5 mL) for each 40 L (10 gallons*) on the first day with a new aquarium. Then use 1 capful for each 80 L (20 gallons*) daily for 7 days. Fish and other aquatic species may be introduced at any time as long as dosage is maintained for 7 days. For optimum biofilter performance use 1 capful for each 40 L (10 gallons*) once a month or with each water change and whenever introducing new fish or whenever medicating an aquarium.

Any product that recommends continued use, cannot successfully cycle an aquarium, not contain the correct bacteria to do so.

That's what I was thinking, but then even some very knowledgeable folks on another forum said it worked for them... So... I dunno. My thought on the second part, about adding it repeatedly, is that it can contain live bacteria and cycle it, but then the continued usage is pointless. I might have to get a bottle and give it a test run, see if I can gauge what's going on.

I have never tried that product, but I was thinking, Seachem makes some very reliable and effective products for the aquarium, would be nice if they were able to come up with a product to help with cycling a tank. Thank goodness I keep extra sponges and have extra filters running on my tanks, but it would still be a good thing if there was a reliable product on the market (at least here in the UK) that actually puts bacteria into a tank, and helps with cycling. It's too bad Dr Tim's isn't sold over here. You Americans get all the good stuff!

My other half read all links very carefully (as he was the one setting up the new tank today), so hopefully the brackish mix will be made right. I plan to take water samples to the fish store this evening and make sure everything checks out. Fingers crossed

Don't forget to get your own test kits! If it's anything but zero ammonia and nitrites, don't stress the biofilter with salt yet.

I've been using Stability by Seachem. It works fine with me.

I had 2 GSP on a 5 gal tank before for 3 weeks but I kept an close eye on its water parameters ammonia, nitrates,nitrites etc. I did a lot of water change, most of them were 100% and that was I used Stability. I still use it now.

Good news! After a quick water change with the little tank the puffer seemed much happier. I have since moved him to the 20g tank and he's clearly ecstatic. Everything checks out fine.

Continue to keep an eye on the parameters (ammonia, nitrite, nitrate) & do WC accordingly.

absolutely. got a water testing kit today, so i'll be able to check the parameters daily without having to make trips to the store.
