Why don't GSPs like the light? Never heard that before.

All fish require some sort of day/night cycle with there being one point of higher light than the rest of the day, unless they are deep water fish.

So no reason to suggest that GSPs don't like the light? I have to say that mine don't seem to shy away, or hide under things in the dark areas.

Hi bigfatfish. I tried finding the information again, but I cannot find it in any of my google searches. It may be wrong, but I remember reading GSPs do not require an aquarium as long as room light is sufficient. It was in an article that described what type of aquarium you need for a GSP, and under lighting it stated no special lighting is required for puffers. If there is room light, you do not need to turn on the florecent light. I shouldnt have said GSPs dont like light, that was my mistake. I will try finding the article tomorrow and post it up. It was in one of my many google searches when I was doing my research.

That can go for any aquarium but living creatures really do need some sort of artificial lighting for certain biological processes in the body. Example, the conversion of calcitrol in to vitamin D. To do this it needs UVB ultraviolet light at wavelengths between 270–300 nm, something not provided by ambient room lighting.
