Pimafix is for fungal and certain bacterial infections. It has no effect whatsoever on parasites. Perhaps if you put the fish in a solution of 100% Pimafix, then the parasites would die, but then so would your fish, and that wouldn't be very helpful.[/quote]
Sorry for your loss I know you tried.
+1 OK, listen why would I lie, I was doing 60% w/c every other day adding aquarium salt with pimafix ich was gone in 3-5 days, but to be 100% sure its gone I continue this treatment for 25 days OK

Oh rachy, I'm so sorry for the loss of your male irrubesco! That's not very good having him go so quickly, but I can't help wondering why he got the fungus so soon after you brought him home. Did the other irrubesco look okay in the tank at the LFS?
Did you have your irrubesco in with any of your other fish or puffers, and if so, I would be watching them closely to make sure they don't have any fungus too. If you did have other fish and/or puffers in that tank with the irrubesco, you might want to keep dosing it with Pimafix, just to be sure.

thanks schismy. yep they looked ok in the tank at the lfs, i think within like a few hours of bringing him home tho i noticed round his mouth was looking a bit white, but then he started hiding so i couldnt get a proper look

the shop is closed 2day, but ive put the body in a little bag in the freezer, and 2moro ill take it back to the shop...im pretty sure they will exchange it as it died so quickly. dosent make it any better tho

theres just shrimp in the tank now, will pimafix affect them?

I think with Pimafix being a natural substance, it shouldn't hurt them, but I am not 100% certain of that. However, since there's no other fish, maybe you don't need to dose the tank .... but I will let someone else give you more advice in that area, as I'm not completely certain.
I do know what you mean about it not being any better that you get a replacement. I remember months ago when I bought that red Congo puffer and I was soooo happy, only to find it dead the next morning after I had brought it home. Never did find out what the problem was there.

I'm sorry. I know how you feel. I lost two of my rescues yesterday. I wish that, too, rachy.

You were never accused of lying. Argument is irrelevant and over.

Sorry to hear that. I would take a pic & send it to your supplier, explaining it came in sick.

I hope you can find a nice healthy pair because I think it's a shame that your first experience with irrubesco puffers had to be so bad. They really are nice puffers, they can be real beggars too when they want to eat. My male irrubesco will come right up to BeeBoo my MBU and try taking food from him.

well i got a pair

they look ok, the others in the tank seemed ok to me aswell. am taking things a lot more slowly with these, theyre still in the bag, but ive been adding some of the tank water in with them for the past hour or so. they dont look stressed or anything, just kinda looking around etc. theyre much much smaller than the last 1 lol!! especially the little girl

Really glad to hear that you got yourself a pair, and yes, the females can be tiny compared to the males. Wait till your boy grows up, he will surprise you I think because they don't grow very long, but they get wide and thick. I hope this couple works out for you, as I think irrubesco are very satisfying puffers to have.
