prob wont harm the puffer. But it won't be nice for the pleco hehe.

I had a pleco in with my fahaka aswell and it is the only fish i actually took out of my tank due to the fact that my fahaka was chasing him and biting chunks out of his tailfin.

Currently I have a big Syno in the tank along with my fahaka. And he tolerates him very well. Never seen any agressive moves towards him and they even eat side by side on bloodworms. The Syno is a lot bigger then my Fahaka atm, so i think there is a little rule in the fishworld "never mess with bigger fish then yourself"

And like busybones said, those damn pleco's do poo a lot!!!

hi, i have a mbu, lepoard plec, figure 8 puffer, south american puffer, dwarf puffer and a cat fish in my tank and they all get along fine. i have had no bad experiences with keeping different types of puffers together. alot of people would tell you not to keep puffers together. but mine get on fine.

How long have you kept this combo? What size tank?

Since this is about the much more aggressive fahaka puffer, I don't see how your post is relevant to the thread. You are aware F8 Puffers do best in brackish water?

i actually had the same situation come up last week. i bought a new tank of craigslist and it came with a pleco about 4 to 5 inches.... since my other tank already had a pleco, i put him in my fahaka tank..... MISTAKE!..... the next day.... the pleco was still alive but you could see the bones on his top fin a little... i felt horrible so i put him in with my red devil cichlids... now hes a happy camper.... dont do it.

Yeah, my middle-aged fahaka also allows similar tank mates as yours. He killed my step-daughter's 5 year old very large parrot cichlid though. Still haven't figured out why he hated it.

I hate to say it, but you will wake up one morning to find the only thing left of your pleco will be in your fahakas stool.

My fahaka has been living with tank mates for over 7 years. Yes, he has taken a disliking to a few of them but I do believe the ones living with him now are safe. I have heard tales of a few (about 1%) fahakas that do allow this.

I ended up not taking the chance and just took the pleco into my LFS.

There is that 99% chance your puffer would have killed it.

IDK how old this thread is, but I wanted to post how today when I bought the Feeders for my daughters Oscars, I put 3 in with my fahaka, and all he did was hide from them, he was asting like he was afraid and stressed, Everyone on here says that my Fahaka should destroy them, but he acts liek a pansy.

What gives?
